No insert needed, which is huge when you've got a newborn squirming at 6am. The woven hemp-organic cotton holds my daughter snug against my chest and she naps way longer in it than in the bassinet. Two months in and it's still my favorite piece of baby gear.
The hemp-cotton blend feels breathable even in August heat, and my daughter naps in it without getting sweaty. It hugs her little frame snugly, though the first couple of wears took some fiddling to get the tension right.
